Behind the Process of Helping Children Understand Disaster Preparedness
Disaster mitigation education requires an approach that is not only informative, but also easy for children to understand. Based on this need, TOA Indonesia and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Universitas Indonesia collaborated to develop animated educational videos with a simpler, more relatable, and engaging approach for younger generations.
The development process began with research, learning sessions, and discussions with academics and related stakeholders to ensure the educational content remained accurate and easy to understand. The storytelling and character development were also carefully designed to help children better understand disaster preparedness in a more approachable way.
This collaboration was further strengthened through direct learning about disaster preparedness culture in Japan. As a country well known for its disaster readiness, Japan became one of the references in understanding the importance of education, communication systems, and clear information delivery during emergency situations.
Through this initiative, TOA Indonesia hopes to help build a stronger culture of disaster preparedness from an early age. In line with the implementation of Early Warning Systems and integrated emergency communication systems, clear and accessible information plays an important role in supporting public safety.
